Controlling weeds and pests

Tree nursery E. de Jong is working hard to become more sustainable in controlling weeds and pests. Previously, various pesticides were sprayed, but now we choose environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions.

Grass rows

By sowing rows of grass on all our plots, the weed pressure becomes much less than before. In addition, we recently started working with a weed whacker that removes the weeds between the trees.

Flowers and insect houses

Since this year we have also sown flower mixtures in the wide rows to get as many insects as possible to come to our nursery, so they can eat the lice from the trees. There are also several insect houses on our plots to increase biodiversity.
